Nigam Bhandari is a filmmaker based in Nepal who has gained recognition for his work in the film industry. He is known for producing the short film "Song of Clouds" (2020) and the Berlinale K-generation winner "Jaalgedi" (2017), ”Kalam" (2019), which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival. He is an alumnus of the Berlinale Talents program.
As a filmmaker, Bhandari is inspired by his obsessive childlike curiosity and his mission to strike a balance between his need to understand and empathize, and his mischievous desire to get people to confront uncomfortable ideas. He is fascinated by how narratives are shaped in the attempt to answer the "big" questions of the world, and wants to discuss heavy topics without being prescriptive, but also wants to let people have a good time. His goal as a filmmaker is to persuade someone to sit with his thoughts for an hour and a half, and nudge them away from their own beliefs to consider a new perspective for a brief moment. Currently, Nigam Bhandari is an M.F.A. candidate at the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where he is furthering his education and skills in the field of filmmaking.
